David Navndrup Black
Following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather, I spent my formative years playing the drums and touring with bands around the U.K., Europe and North America.
After a decade of gigging and teaching, I found myself spending more time away from the drums, creating pre-recorded and improvised sound in situations where the performance space, the movement of the performer and the interaction of the audience are as important as the sound being produced.
This meeting of audience participation, environment, movement and sound is where I continue to work today; with a focus on the temporality of sound and its affect on our senses.
Education - Academic
In the summer of 2017 I graduated from Aalborg University with a M-Sc in Sound and Music Computing.
As a precursor to this I spent a little over two years at The Danish National School for Performing Arts studying Musical Accompaniment for Dance, graduating in early 2015.
My Bachelor education in Jazz Studies was obtained from Leeds College of Music in the year 2000.
